The Adventures Before Christmas (1)

Hello guys!
So it's Christmas in, what... 3 days now? How exciting!
Well, I know that the days running up to Christmas can be a little hectic- they definitely are here, anyway! I thought I'd cover a little of what's been going on in my own little run up- probably in a couple of posts, so here goes nothing.

Monday-Thurday
I guess festivities mostly started to kick in last Monday, as it was the first of the Christmas concerts with school, so there was some rehearsing and flitting about trying to make everything as perfect as possible and decorating our instruments (and selves) to be all festive! I must say, the show was pretty much a success! And was soon followed by a show at The Sage, Gateshead on Thursday, which was an amazing experience for us all! The school choir and orchestra performed, the latter being the one I'm involved in (I play the flute).

The programme for the day at the Sage!

Coffee and Brownie- aka Lunch! :)
Friday
Finally, the last day of school! (Took it's time!) But the festivities in school were very limited, as we did work all day with a tiny little quiz in one lesson :( But never mind! We did secret Santa between our friendship group, in which I gave a Christmas-scented smellies set to one of my dear friends, Frances, and received a Doctor Who Dalek mug (picture soon!), a hand-care kit and a box of peanut M&M's from another dear friend, Natasha! <3 (Thank you again Natasha!) When I got home it was time to marzipan the Christmas cake, which I've been trusted to do this year... Probably wasn't the best decision of my mother's, but it was fun ^^

The cake was pretty bumpy, so I had to try and do a quick patch-up, which you can see in the marzipan below...

There was also a lump of marzipan left, so I did what any normal person would do, and re-enacted "The Sword in the Stone" which is here for your entertainment:

Yup, weird is an understatement with me!
I also left the kitchen in a bit of a mess haha, woops!

There'll be more Christmas Cake updates in the next edition of "The Adventures Before Christmas" :3

Saturday
Today, my Mam and I took my 5 year old cousin out to the cinema to see "Frozen", which, was pretty much AMAZING. I have a new obsession with it now, and have literally not stopped listening to the soundtrack since we got back. It was just so perfect!<3
Giant fanta anybody?
Today
So that brings us to today, which has been spent inside asleep mostly, with a quick visit from a family friend and her daughter and then a bit of nail planning and Les Mis watching! :D

I look forward to what the next few days bring! And in the mean time, I leave you with some cute and cuddly Christmassy photo's that I stumbled across on Twitter!
(credit to the original photographers, whom I don't actually know..?)

And a pretty Tardis too! <3

Don't forget to check back on Christmas Eve for part 2! If you don't though, have an amazing Christmas!!

The Random Sunday Post!

Hello everyone! This is a super quick random post just to say I'm back and also what will be coming up this week! So, I'm still due a Blue Nails post for the British Nail Blogger's Colour Me Crazy Challenge- this will be up tomorrow instead of a Book/Lifestyle post! From Wednesday, the normal posts will resume, so you can expect a Pink Mani on this day for this week's challenge nails! Then on Thursday, it's A Level results day, which means a lot of nervous stressy things to sort out, and I may not have time to write up a post in time for Friday- but I will definitely try, and also update you all in my potential University place! If there is a post on Friday, it'll be a typical naily post- probably a swatch of something! And that is all I think you need to know! Good Luck to anyone else getting results on Thursday! ~Rachel

Mail: Messy Mani

Hello! Let it be known that from this day forth, any nail posts posted on Mondays shall be known as "Mail's". Yay! For the first "Mail" post, I'm going to be sharing one of my new purchases with you... Model's Own's "Erase" Corrector Pen! I feel like this could be a major turning point in my blog's image quality, as I no longer have an excuse for messy mani's.  Though I'd first like to point out that I feel like I have come quite far since the beginning of my blog, and no longer post images such as this... I mean, just look at that thumb!? (Polish is Barry M Spring Green) ...Except for today, I'm posting a very (purposefully) messy mani, to show you how the corrector pen can work! Also please keep in mind that I actually did this mani pretty much in the dark, around midnight the other day. :D I quite enjoyed being super careless with my painting, actually. Is that wrong of me? Also, you m

Wail: Birthday Blue!

Hi everyone! So it was my 18th birthday yesterday, hence why this post is a little late! But I have a fun post for you all to enjoy :) Introducing to you- my birthday mani! I love love love these polishes- I think I've only used them once each, but wow, they're just amazing and I definitely need to use them more. Apologies for the little bit of tip-wear, it's been on since Saturday (so, 5 days between application and the picture taking!) so the wear on these polishes is actually very good! The first polish is Rimmel London's Salon Pro by Kate, in the shade "Britpop" which is such a fun name! The colour is also absolutely stunning, it's such a rich blue, but is kinda bright at the same time and a borderline dark teal colour. The brush for application is also pretty wide, which makes coverage super easy in only one to two strokes! There's another bonus too- the polish is very shiny even before a top coat! Totally recommend this polish, a
