Into the Make-Up World... Part 2!

Hello everyone!
Today we're stepping back into my make-up stash, and finishing off by showing you my lovely lip products! I actually do own a few more than this, but they're at home, so here's the ones I have with me!

Left to Right (back row, lipsticks): MaxFactor Colour Elixir "Mulberry"; MaxFactor Colour Elixir "Ruby Tuesday"; Maybelline Color Sensational "Galactic Mauve"; Maybelline Color Sensational "Midnight Plum"; Rimmel Kate "19"; Rimmel Moisture Renew "Heather Shimmer"; Bare Minerals Moxie "Light It Up"
In front- Rimmel Apocalips in "Galaxy", Bare Minerals Lip Liner in "Energized"

Left to Right: (All Bare Minerals, first 5 are mini's) "Break Away"; "Be Bold"; "Get Ready"; "Speak Your Mind"; "Go All Out" and "Berry Remix" (tinted lip-balm)

I swatched them all onto my hand for you, in the same order that they appeared in the above images!

So, my favourites? I'm gonna split this into three... Daytime, 'Something More' and 'Going Out'.
For everyday, my favourites would have to be Maxfactor's "Mulberry", Rimmel Kate's "19" and the Rimmel Moisture Renew "Heather Shimmer". These three are my 'go-to' shades simply because "Mulberry" compliments my hair colour, and is a lush wine shade, with a very gentle golden shimmer. It's just perfect. The two Rimmel ones are pretty similar (I bought the Moisture Review one to replace the Kate one, as it's nearly empty!), and basically each have that perfect neutral shade for my skin tone and lip colour, but give enough colour to make it look like I do have a lipstick on. They also give that extra layer of protection and moisture for my lips in the cold Wintery season! :)

For those days where you just need a little something 'more' than a natural/typical colour, I like to grab my Apocalips gloss, Maybelline "Midnight Plum" or very occasionally, Maxfactor's Ruby Tuesday. The gloss is perfect for adding a bit of shine to your flawless face, while still having a good colour coverage- and it isn't sticky, which is great because I hate sticky lipgloss. It just seems to get everywhere! But this doesn't, so it's great. Midnight Plum is one of my favourite darker colours that I like to match with my purple eyeliner, and Ruby Tuesday is just fantastic for that "classic" look without being too in-your-face red, as it has a very slight coral-pink undertone.

For those special occasions, it depends how extravagent I'm going with my eyes. If they're super duper bold and colourful with dark sweeping liner, I'll go for a 'safe' lip combo, using one of my "everyday" shades. If the eye is quite neutral, I will definitely step it up, and add in a bold splash of Ruby Tuesday, Light It Up, Be Bold or Go All Out. Be Bold is actually one of my definite favourites for a deep yet 'soft' lip colour, and it definitely stands out from the rest (as you can see on my lovely hand-swatch).

Here's some pics of the lipsticks all out of their shells a little!

And, to finish off the post, here's a quick 'look' that I did and posted over on my "personal" instagram account.

To create this look I used BareMinerals Prime Time Brightening; BareMinerals Ready R330 foundation; BareMinerals Ready Blush "The Indecent Proposal"; Maxfactor Gel Liner "Black Gold"; Rimmel "Wonderfull" Mascara, and Maxfactor Colour Elixir "Ruby Tuesday" lipstick.

For me, this look gives a kind of sophisticated, but fun, classic almost-Taylor-Swift look, and I hope you like it as much as I do! If you want to re-create it, or ask any questions about applications of products or the products themselves, feel free to drop it in the comments, or catch me on any of the social media platforms!

  1. I'm so jealous of all your make-up!! I love where you said 'Midnight Plum is one of my favourite darker colours that I like to match with my purple eyeliner' because I'd never even thought of doing stuff like this!! I'm just boring black eyeliner and bare lips most of the time! I always want to wear lipstick but I either forget or don't wear it because I hate how it wears off so quickly :(

    1. Oh hun, this is only the stash at Uni... :P But it's true! I'll either match my eyes and lips, hair and lips, or my nails with my eyes or lips as like a general thing! :) Black eyeliner's good, but I like that splash of colour hehe, I'll often line my lid in black and then do my waterline in a colour :) But you can get lipstick-stay-put stuff, aaand if you put a liner on your whole lip before hand it'll help it stay on too ^^ And the brand helps- my red stays on pretty nicely for at least 5 hours-ish :)

  2. Thanks for the tips! It just shows how clueless I am when it comes to make-up really! I'm definitely going to experiment by using different colours in the future :D x

The Random Sunday Post!

Hello everyone! This is a super quick random post just to say I'm back and also what will be coming up this week! So, I'm still due a Blue Nails post for the British Nail Blogger's Colour Me Crazy Challenge- this will be up tomorrow instead of a Book/Lifestyle post! From Wednesday, the normal posts will resume, so you can expect a Pink Mani on this day for this week's challenge nails! Then on Thursday, it's A Level results day, which means a lot of nervous stressy things to sort out, and I may not have time to write up a post in time for Friday- but I will definitely try, and also update you all in my potential University place! If there is a post on Friday, it'll be a typical naily post- probably a swatch of something! And that is all I think you need to know! Good Luck to anyone else getting results on Thursday! ~Rachel

Mail: Messy Mani

Hello! Let it be known that from this day forth, any nail posts posted on Mondays shall be known as "Mail's". Yay! For the first "Mail" post, I'm going to be sharing one of my new purchases with you... Model's Own's "Erase" Corrector Pen! I feel like this could be a major turning point in my blog's image quality, as I no longer have an excuse for messy mani's.  Though I'd first like to point out that I feel like I have come quite far since the beginning of my blog, and no longer post images such as this... I mean, just look at that thumb!? (Polish is Barry M Spring Green) ...Except for today, I'm posting a very (purposefully) messy mani, to show you how the corrector pen can work! Also please keep in mind that I actually did this mani pretty much in the dark, around midnight the other day. :D I quite enjoyed being super careless with my painting, actually. Is that wrong of me? Also, you m
