Shades: Monochrome

For monochrome nails, I wanted to do something a little different than I've seen other bloggers do in the past. So, in short, no zebra print, stripes, polka dots, etc.
Instead, I decided to some cool fire nails! :D They're really super easy to do, and I shall explain below, and include the video tutorial that I used :)

So, to do this you need:
* A base colour (I used a black- Rimmel London Lasting Finish Black Cab)
* 2 colours that contrast with the base colour, but are similar together (i.e. 2 shades of a colour, or pink and purple, anything and white, blue and green etc.) I used a grey- Leighton Denny Zero Gravity and a white- OPI's Alpine Snow
* A pin (sewing pin is good!), small dotting tool or something that would have the same thin-dragging effect

What to do:
1. Clean and care for your nails.
2. Paint on the base coat as if you were painting your nails with only that colour. (Top coat optional)
3. Wait for a few hours/overnight once the base colour is dry.
***You'll need your base colour, and your two other colours open and ready for you. Along with your thin-dragging tool (dotting/pin/whatever). And go a nail at a time!***
4. Paint another coat of your base colour on your nail, quite a thick coat.
5. Splodge some of your darker colour (or lighter colour, depending on your choice of colours!) onto the tip of your nail. You want more of this than the other one :)
6. Splodge some messy dots of your second colour onto the tip too, slightly less than the first colour but enough to still drag upwards.
7. Using your dragger tool, drag your polish splodges upwards towards the nail bed, making an "S" motion, like dancing flames!
8. Repeat on nail until happy! If you find there's too much polish on, just drag some down and onto a tissue!
9. Repeat these steps on all nails you want the fire pattern on, and then top coat them to keep it on for longer! :)

Here's the original video I used, it might explain it a little better, and she uses a slightly different technique. And for some reason, it looks so much nicer than mine does!

Here's a couple more pictures of mine :) Enjoy!

How would you take on the challenge of monochrome nails?

Fridail: OPI Beach Sandies!

Happy Wednesday  Friday everybody! Where did the time go!? Anyway, we'll dive straight in with the post! I apologise in advance for the iPhone-quality of images, I'm still looking for some batteries that my camera won't complain about. Today I'm covering OPI's Beach Sandies from the Brazil collection, which is a little quartet of mini liquid sand polishes. Can I just say here, if anyone high up in the chain of OPI reads this (which is unlikely, but if you do then HI!), please please pleeeeease make these in full-sized bottles? Please! So... This is the box, and the four that you get (I swatched super quickly over each, so do excuse that)
