Life Update ft. New Glasses!*

*This post contains a product that was sent to me in exchange for an honest review. This product is the pair of glasses you see in this post, and any posts which include my face in any future posts. Thanks! Howdy! I'm writing this whilst listening to the General Election results. I'm not going to get into politics here though, this is a safe politics-free zone! I've been semi-missing the past few weeks, I know. Many apologies. However if you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen a couple of posts! And just in case you don't, here they are for you: First of all actually, I had a little haul from BornPrettyStore, and bought the following stoofs: And then did ma nails. (That's what I do here, generally after all). A post shared by Nail Parade! (@nail_parade) on May 23, 2017 at 1:10pm PDT A post shared by Nail Parade! (@nail_parade) on Jun 5, 2017 at 10:33am PDT That's all the nail stuff really. I did however...

Shoe(box) Polish

Hello hello, Wow, another post?? Am I feeling okay? (Thanks for asking, I have actually been in bed almost all weekend with a cold - who the heck gets a cold in April in California!?!?) Anyway, I am writing this in between episodes of Netflix's new show 13 Reasons Why, one of the most controversial shows I think has been around in a while. This show is nuts, I want to finish watching it and yet it's super triggering and just plain sad to think about both how real and how glamorised it is. Can it be both at the same time? I'm unsure. I'm not here to talk about that stuff anyway, I will let the more experience media bloggers open that can of worms. (Though I am opening to chatting about the show and general tv stuff if anybody would like to, just drop me a message on fb/twitter/instagram). Today I am here to make a ridiculously huge list of the polishes which live in my shoebox.  Yes, an actual shoebox - us students have very good storage solutions, okay? Despite o...

Life and Blog Update!

Greetings from Cali! Nice to see you here again... or nice to see me here again? Sending my hugest apologies to you all for being so lame with posting things. Everything just happens to come around at once whenever I plan a post apparently. If you didn't notice already, you may see that a few things have changed. The blue-tiful colour scheme is sticking around, but everything seems a bit sharper, fresher, more modern, yes? (I'm hoping you're saying yes right now). Yes! The blog went through a bit of a makeover and I must say I am loving  the new interface personally, but I need to know what you think about it.  Let me know in the comments below if you're loving it or hating it, and if there are any improvements or errors or suggestions that you have. I have some wonderful swatches planned for you guys, bought some new polishes, and hope to finally have a little bit of blog time to get back into the swing of things, I missed writing random posts about nails and blabb...

A Blogger's Bookshelf: My Reading Habits

Hi Paraders, As I'm sure a lot of you know, I love  books. I love bookstores. I love choosing books and smelling books and flicking through the pages of a freshly printed paperback. (Though I also love kindles and their convenience.) However, nothing is that simple. And even when you love something, you have to let it go. Or maybe in this case, it lets me go instead. I'm not quite sure. Anyway, my reading habits are literally all over the place . I'm a literary mess.

Happy New Year!!

Hello folks! So, this post is so late that I'm pretending that it's a Chinese-New-Year post... What I'm trying to say, basically, is HAPPY NEW YEAR (insert massive 'cheers' here), and Happy Year of the Rooster! (Random fun fact: I was born in the Year of the Rat, which supposedly symbolises strong vitality and intelligence, though I'm not sure I can agree for myself, personally.) And so, my dears, I have come to realise that we are almost a whole month into 2017. This is both terrifying and exciting in how quickly everything is coming together. I'm still out in the US, but I think I'm getting my life together enough to be able to blog again (YAY!). I'd still like to update the look of Nail Parade, but I'll get on with that at some point. I have some new polishes coming in the 'mail' (ahem, post , to all of us Brits) soon, which I'm super excited to blog about as they're from ILNP (I Love Nail Polish). Whilst ILNP does ac...

Life Update: California Dreamin'

Hello Paraders!! Long time no see. It's been what, 3 months? 6 months? I'm not even sure and I'm honestly too lazy to go and check. So for those of you who aren't my close personal friends I guess it's time for a bit of a life update. Well, for the first big thing, I've moved to Cali for 9 months. (7-8 months remaining AHH! It's all going too quickly!). I'm out here doing a placement at the University of California Santa Cruz, specifically looking at sparrow behaviour, which is awesome! I get to hang around the University's Arboretum pretty much every day before heading up the lab to do the more typical mathsy-science stuff. It's definitely nothing to complain about as the campus is so pretty . You're gonna have to take my word for it til I can get some amazing picture shots! Seriously though the whole campus is pretty much covered in Redwood trees, and you can see the ocean and  the mountains. I'm pretty sure there's nothing else ...

Life Update 2016 1.0

Here comes the life update I just promised! Be prepared for... actually not much, but be prepared anyway. The year kicked off with a lovely trip to Lake Tahoe in California/Nevada (it's on the border), and we celebrated New Year there. On return, exam period commenced with much stress, as it does.

Introducing nailpolish.co.uk!

Hellooooo everyone! Long time no see, but I have (at last) returned, yay! And not only have I returned but I've teamed up with a rather exciting website- nailpolish.co.uk  - which will be featured for the whole of this week as they sent me some extremely nice looking items that I can't wait to share with you all :) ---serious paragraph--- Also, after this week there's gonna be a bit of a change up to the site- that is, I'll be posting once  per week. As the opportunities (time-wise) arise I may post twice a week, but as I figure out where to fit everything into my life again I'm cutting it down to one, I hope you all understand! ---seriousness over--- Back to nailpolish.co.uk - here is the package in question that I was definitely more than happy to receive! I was actually having a really terrible day until I arrived home to find this waiting for me - especially since all I was expecting was two bottles of nail polish. So thank you so much indeed! Pac...

Life Update!

Hey everyone! Been quite a while since one of these (I think?), so I thought I'd give you the scoop on what's happening in my life right now. The past couple of weeks have been a bit of a haze of getting ready to go back to Uni, and also a nice little 7 day all-inclusive holiday in Lanzarote, before returning back home for a couple of days. Some thoughts and a specific Timehop app have also made me realise how things have changed in the past year (both good and bad) and how much everyone's grown up and moved on from sixth form, including myself I'd like to think... though I'm still grasping onto all the "childish" things that make me happy like Disney, and stuffed animals. I feel like these are even more important to hold onto now that I'm onto the last year of my teens. At this very moment in time, I'm having a sick day in my PJ's in bed feeling sorry for myself and trying to get some internet-things done before I give up and just go b...

Nail It For Rhinos!

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a lovely week off from myself and the blog. Things are kicking off again straight away with a post which is pretty important (and includes a fun nail art tutorial), so make sure you pay attention! As you may have guessed from the title, this post is about everyone's favourite dinosaur-looking animal, the Rhino... Now I've been lucky enough to see Rhinos close-up in a pretty wild environment (in Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa), but not everyone will be so lucky. Poachers are often after these beautiful animals for their horns- horrible, right!? What many people don't realise is that these Rhino's horns are made from keratin - the same protein as found in your own finger nails. And yet (I hope) you don't have poachers running after you to tear those off, so why should we let such things happen to the Rhinos, which are already critically endangered , by the way. I've teamed up with Save the Rhino  and their #N...
