Avril "Mille et une nuits" #32*

*This post contains an item sent to me in exchange for an honest review. Here it is a nail polish by Avril, called "Mille et une nuits" - No32.

Hello folks!

How are you all doing? How am I doing? Where am I? Who am I? So many questions...

To answer a few... I hope you are doing fine.
Yes, I am fine thank you.
I am in England, once again. For a long while this time.
I am Rachel, as always. And I have been missing from the blogging world for a couple of months.

The past 2 weeks I have spent job-searching (with success, yay!), catching up on Suits, and binge-watching Scandal. I want you all to go and do some homework and watch Scandal so I have somebody to talk to about it. Seriously.

Anyway, a few months ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by Avril - a french beauty brand which pride themselves on not testing on animals, and ensuring any of the ingredients used are also not tested on our furry friends. I highly respect this, and think that all companies should follow their lead, especially since a lot of them are sneaking around EU laws by using ingredients from other countries and continents which aren't as strict.

Avril sent me 4 of their nail polishes, which are made in France, 7-free, and also vegan! I chose a black, red, this navy-shimmer, and a matt top-coat, and also a green eyeliner. Each of these will be featured on the blog sometime very soon, but let's start with the navy!

It's name is "Mille et une nuits" which, according to google, translates to, "One Thousand and One Nights". According to google even more, this is a "collection of Middle Eastern folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age.'

Personally, the name of this polish is very accurate. When I first saw this polish out of the box, the night was the first thing I thought of. The shimmery, dark, beauty of the night.

Fact File:
Brand: Avril
Polish Name: Mille et une nuits
# of coats: 2
Finishing Texture: Smooth, shimmer
Cost: € + 6.95 p&p available online at https://www.avril-organic.com/

I used 2 coats to get full coverage of this polish. Application was very smooth and the brush is a perfect size and shape too (not too round, not too square, not too small... just right!). My problem today with getting pictures lay with the light. Using artificial flash from the camera the polish looks extremely navy, but I am yet to see it look so blue in natural light.

You can see all the little shimmers in the bottle there though. They're extremely pretty and even have a slight multichrome effect. Below you can see these shimmers in natural light (as in right next to the window with all of the clouds outside).

My one sadness about this polish is that the shimmers aren't as noticeable on nails as they are in the bottle. The colours just don't pop out as much. It's not that it makes me dislike the polish - I do really love it. I like subtle things, sometimes. I just wish I could transfer the dancing colours onto my nails straight out of the bottle.

If you're interested in grabbing this polish, you can find it right here. And I will be reviewing the other beauties that Avril sent over to me, very very soon.

In the mean time, go watch Scandal, and let me know what you think of both the polish and the show! See you next time!

How To: Gradient Nails

Gradient nails are a great way to ensure that your mani matches your outfit over a set period of days (depending on how many colours you use), and it also just looks pretty dang awesome. You've seen a few of my own mani's where gradients have been used (these ones below, in example), especially those in more recent posts! So a tutorial is definitely long overdue- I hope you find it useful!

New Polish and Organisation!

GUESS WHAT GUYS!? My Nails Inc Lucky Dip came, and wow is it just perfect! So what happens with their 'Lucky Dip' is that you get 7 polishes at random for £18, and they only do it like once a season or something. When you think that Nails Inc polishes can range from £11-15, this is a damn good deal! Plus the polishes include new and old ones- it's pretty much whatever they have in their warehouse as far as I understand =)
