Colour Me Crazy: Blue!

Hey everyone!
I'm posting this a little earlier than actual hours of Monday, simply because the link-up with the rest of the British Nail Bloggers finishes at midnight!

So this week's theme is blue! I started throwing some blue nail polishes into a little carrier bag to use. Turns out I picked out Barry M's Huckleberry Gelly, Revlon's "Mint Fizz", OPI's "Dining Al Frisco" and Barry M's Blue Grape Gelly.

Initially, I intended to do a waterfall manicure, but I couldn't find my thin striping brush... So it turned into this.

So it looks a bit like a pin-marble manicure (see this post if you're unsure) but actually, it's an extremely randomly placed distressed mani.

Basically, to get the 'distressed' nail look, you use the brush that the polish comes with, but wipe of all excess polish- either on the rim of the bottle, or onto some paper, before wiping the brush on your nails. Continue this with different colours until you're happy.

I began with two coats of Barry M's Huckleberry before starting the distressed technique with Revlon's shimmery minty-fresh "Mint Fizz" polish, closely followed by the OPI polish and finished off with Barry M's Blue Grape.

With the flash on, I'm finding a big blue blur on my nails that's reminding me of something between a puff of blue smoke and a very blue rippling pool of water. What do they remind you of? :)

So, that's it for my blue nails! You can tune in later this week (Wednesday!) to see my pink nails for this challenge.

Thanks for reading!

Your Guide to Barry M Gelly's!

Finally , the time has come for the ever-promised "Barry M Gelly Polishes Review & Swatch" Post! YAY! Now, now, settle down, settle down, and prepare yourself for an image-heavy post! Panorama View? Yes please... Okay, so that picture isn't too great. But there's the colours that between us (Me and Rhian) have in the Gelly range. We're only missing "Grapefruit" I think...

How To: Gradient Nails

Gradient nails are a great way to ensure that your mani matches your outfit over a set period of days (depending on how many colours you use), and it also just looks pretty dang awesome. You've seen a few of my own mani's where gradients have been used (these ones below, in example), especially those in more recent posts! So a tutorial is definitely long overdue- I hope you find it useful!
